Three bets today, albeit in two races. October Storm gets the nod in the marathon handicap and could go well. He seems capable of staying all day and despite being a tad below-par on the All-Weather a month ago, it wasn't run to bring out the best in him. This might be and he won and placed third on his two outings at this course in May, which bodes well. In the following 1m 4f handicap, two Godolphin horses appeal. Secret Advisor is lightly-raced and progressive, and I liked his last two runs. First Nation finished second for us at Royal Ascot and also gets the nod. There's more to come from him in due course.
1:50 - October Storm - 1pt @ 12/1 (General) - 12th @ 10/1; hated that ground. Pointless bet.
2:25 - Secret Advisor - 1pt @ 5/1 (General) - 5th @ 5/1; wasn't favoured by conditions either.
2:25 - First Nation - 1pt @ 9/1 (General) - 4th @ 10/1; ran well, had a chance, can do better.
