Only one runner for us on the last betting day as Master The World was withdrawn on vets advice down at the start, which was a pity! Shraaoh lined up in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock and performed perfectly well to come home in third position, but wasn't good enough on the day. There were no excuses whatsoever and I was disappointed that he didn't travel into the race for longer. However, it is possible that he's wanting to step back up in trip again and I remain convinced that he's a well-handicapped animal waiting to take his form to another level. When that'll happen is anyone's guess but we should know more soon enough.

-1.00pts on the day.

Two bets for today's action, both coming in sprints. Moonraker hasn't won for a couple of years and is a frustrating sort with more ability than he shows on the track, but he's on a good mark these days and will eventually pop up. He ran a good race at Newcastle last time as well, finishing third despite a poor draw, and I think he can take a step forward back over a C&D he clearly enjoys. East Street Revue is the other play and whilst he hasn't run up to his best the last twice, he wasn't disgraced in the Scottish Sprint Cup; that's often a funny race anyway. He's back down in grade and, with luck in-running, really should go close.

4:35 - Moonraker - 1pt @ 7/1 (General) - 9th @ 5/1; comical sort of race, sadly had no chance.

4:55 - East Street Revue - 1pt @ 15/2 (General) - 6th @ 6/1; hit evens but weakened late on.
