I was hoping Moonraker would take a step forward on his promising recent Newcastle spin but he is the sort who needs a properly run race in which cover is on offer and things simply didn't pan out for him here. Even ignoring that, he didn't show too many hints but it's a race I can't take seriously and the horses drawn in the three highest stalls finished in the first three positions. East Street Revue got marooned on the wing at York but still came through to look a big player, trading as low as even money. I thought he'd finish strongly from there but he did the opposite and weakened into sixth. He ran OK and will remain on the "of interest" list.

-2.00pts on the day.

Busy day and it might be my last punting day until the Ascot meeting on the 28th/29th July, then we have Glorious Goodwood straight on the back of that. I will elaborate further in an email either later or tomorrow. Anyway, five bets in four races. Polybius is the best of the lot in my book and shouldn't be around 11-12/1. Dropping back to a stiff 5f shouldn't bother him and he's a player. City Of Joy should have gone close at Royal Ascot and may make amends, whilst Sixties Groove fits into the same category. Erik The Red is saver-worthy in that race at a nice price and last, but not least, is Cotai Glory, who can step forward at this level.

2:10 - Polybius - 1.50pts @ 12/1 (General)

2:50 - City Of Joy - 1pt @ 5/2 (General)

3:05 - Sixties Groove - 1pt @ 7/1 (General)
3:05 - Erik The Red - 0.50pts @ 22/1 (General)
4:15 - Cotai Glory - 1pt @ 6/1 (General)
