0-3 on Friday and nothing was remotely good enough. God Willing moved fine for a long way at York but they hardly chugged along at a mad gallop and over the 7f trip, he is in need of a proper pace. He wasn't beaten that for and, for my sins, I remain interested in the horse. Mysterial went off at the front as hoped but wasn't good enough on the day, attempting to kick clear some way out before falling into a hole. There will be easier tasks in sight for him and on turning tracks where the prominent racers are favoured, he can excel again. Monteverdi did not improve for the blinkers and was weakening when badly hampered.
-3.00pts on the day.
Four bets today and a decent winner would be nice. Showdaisy caught the eye over C&D recently when not given a hard time after missing the break and I wouldn't be surprised if she has been lined up for today. Orion's Bow runs in the Scottish Sprint Cup and drops to 5f after showing plenty of pace in a conditions' race at Haydock. I think he's interesting at this trip (completely unexposed over it) and should go well. Heaven's Guest is obviously well-treated and will return to some proper form soon, whilst Thikriyaat has more in the locker than he got to show first time up in a handicap. If he runs to his ability, I reckon he will win.
2:05 - Showdaisy - 1pt @ 9/1 (General) - 3rd @ 11/1; ran a storming race, just pipped for second.
3:10 - Orion's Bow - 1.50pts @ 8/1 (General) - 11th @ 11/2; smashed in betting, got no sort of run.
2:20 - Heaven's Guest - 1pt @ 12/1 (General) - Last @ 12/1; went out like a light. Something amiss.
2:55 - Thikriyaat - 1.50pts @ 4/1 (General) - 3rd @ 9/2; far better; terribly positioned by Crowley.
