Appeared took another step forward in his career when running a cracking race in the Duke Of Edinburgh but bumped into a Godolphin runner who clearly has been primed to the minute despite a year off the track. The way the selection went through the race bodes well for the future and he will win a nice race sooner rather than later. Mister Manduro took a while to get his position in the Queen's Vase and still ran well, but ultimately wasn't good enough. A step up to an even longer trip could unlock the door for him. Snowflakes also shaped with promise but lacked the pace required and seems to want further. She's interesting.
-3.00pts on the day.
Caught for time so write-ups are brief this time. Three races covered with four of the five bets being 20/1+. Khairaat is the other and looks to have a right chance in the Wolferton. He has come back even better as a 4-year-old and might have lowly Group-class ability. In the same race, Restorer runs in his first ever handicap and could thrive over a fast run 10f. Odds of 25/1 looks a bit mad. Kachy is a big price in the Diamond Jubilee and may be up to going close if Limato doesn't run to his official rating. Finally, Squats and Polybius have plenty of previous form that entitles them to respect and both look overpriced.
3:05 - Khairaat - 1pt @ 5/1 (General) - 13th @ 3/1; well backed but was keen and disappointed.
3:05 - Restorer - 1pt @ 25/1 (General) - 7th @ 20/1; he was very, very unlucky not to go close...
4:20 - Kachy - 1pt @ 33/1 (General) - 10th @ 33/1; traded 3/1 from a BSP of 80/1! Fell in a hole.
5:00 - Squats - 1pt @ 20/1 (General) - 15th @ 20/1; could never get involved. Needs to find form.
5:00 - Polybius - 1pt @ 40/1 (General) - 4th @ 33/1; ran a cracker. Wins if drawn on other side?
