JBR – May 5th

Nothing doing on Sunday. Sound Of Iona ran a much better race to finish third and things didn't pan out completely to suit, so there can be plenty of encouragement taken from the spin. She should be edging closer to another win and can be monitored. Freyja almost halved in price but that's about as exciting as it got. She had an easy time up top but when pressure was applied, she was going backwards! I'm presuming she bounced as with plenty going right for her mid-race, better should have been forthcoming.

-2.00pts on the day.

Just the one bet for Chester - don't really like much else, tricky ol' card!

4.45 Chester - Theotherside - 1pt @ 25/1 (Bet365; 22/1 General)

There's no doubting that Theotherside has got something to prove at 7f but on a speedy, turning track it should be within range. Her last couple of outings have come on the All-Weather, which may not suit ideally, and it has served a nice purpose in getting her mark down to 81. She won a decent handicap at Newmarket off this rating last summer, was only a few lengths behind the talented Chil Chil next time off 88 and her sole spin on good-to-soft yielded a reasonable mid-division finish at Salisbury over 6f, a race in which she hit the line hard enough to think conditions aren't a problem. Whether she's in the form to take advantage of the lowering mark is anyone's guess but at 22/1, or 25/1 in a place, I'm happy enough to take a chance. The yard are in great order as well and stall 6 is a decent spot to have over this C&D. Here's hoping for a good run.
