JBR – May 7th

Theotherside couldn't get properly involved at Chester but ran a good race and even traded as low as 5/2 at one point. Sadly, I don't think she was best suited to where she had to be positioned and when asked for her full effort in the straight, she hung fire. Maybe the ground wasn't completely to her liking and a quicker surface next time might see even more improvement. This run definitely signaled that she's on the way back after a couple of mediocre spins on the All-Weather and I will keep her down on the list!

-1.00pts on the day.

2.45 Chester - Glencadam Glory - 1pt @ 16/1 (Bet365; 12/1 General)

Glencadam Glory is a bit of a nutter who can over-race but the handicapper is giving him a chance as he's down to 95 and that's 4lbs below his Ebor second from last season. That came on soft ground, so any rain shouldn't be a bother, and a lot of his attributes would make you think Chester could suit ideally. His comeback run at Musselburgh wasn't great but he likely needed it and hopefully more attacking tactics are employed today. If he can stay this trip and doesn't blow his head off, I think he can get involved.

3.30 Ascot - Fresh - 1pt @ 8/1 (Bet365; 7/1 General)

Fresh was unfortunate not to get the better of Stone Circle when the pair ran over C&D on testing ground at the backend of last season and hopefully can gain compensation today. The now 4-year-old is 5lbs higher despite not having won in a couple of runs since but had a nice pipe-opener at Kempton last month and that race didn't really suit his hold up running style. This contest looks sure to provide the gallop he needs in order to thrive and in a first time tongue-tie, I think he's worth taking a chance on.

3.45 Chester - Trais Fluors - 1pt @ 16/1 (General)

Trais Fluors is another who has come down the ratings and he's 7lbs below the mark he began life for Mick Channon off a couple of runs ago. Granted, he posted a complete no-show at Newbury last time but before that he wasn't disgraced behind some smart milers on his stable debut and it shouldn't take long before he can build on that, especially back in handicaps off a double-figured rating. Going up in trip on a track like this could be perfect and I think he's an interesting runner despite obviously needing to bounce back!
